George S. Miller, 32, of New York, New York, formerly of Kalona, died Monday, July 5, 1999 in Newport, Vermont as the result of a drowning accident. He is the son of Quinten and Dolores Miller of Kalona.
Services were Thursday, July 8, in Kalona Mennonite Church with the Reverend Scott Swartzentruber officiating. Burial was in Sharon Hill Cemetery.
Born December 22, 1966, in Iowa City, he was the son of Quinten and Dolores (Miller) Miller.
He graduated from Iowa Mennonite High School in 1985 and attended Goshen College for two years. He studied in China for one year and then attended the University of Iowa for two years.
He lived in New York City for the past nine years where he taught English as a second language and was an author.
He enjoyed biking and roller blading and rode in the Boston New York AIDS Bikathon.
Survivors include his parents, Quinten and Dolores Miller of Kalona; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and Paul Long of Loures, Portugal; Myrna Jane and Dirk Eitzen of Lititz, Pennsylvania; Sharla Lynne and Tom Zasadny of Washington; one brother and sister-in-law, Forrest Gene and Nora Miller of Newton, Kansas; and seventeen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial fund has been established.
Yoder-Powell Funeral Home, Kalona, in charge of arrangements.
