Four Mid-Prairie golfers shot in the 90s and three Golden Hawks reached personal bests in the Wildcat Invitational held Tuesday at Wahkonsa Golf Course in Durant.

The Golden Hawks scored a season-best 383 over 18 holes, improving their score by nine shots from the Golden Hawk Invitational held one week earlier in Kalona.

Drew Schlabaugh led Mid-Prairie with a personal-best 91, scoring six pars in 9-hole rounds of 45 and 46.

The Golden Hawks tied for sixth place, but were dropped to seventh due to the tiebreaker.

“I am really proud of the effort today,” Mid-Prairie coach Kelby Bender said. “We finally had a nice day and they took advantage and played good golf. It is great for them to see their practice is paying off with all the team and personal bests they keep having.”

Will Bridges of West Branch shot 75 to win medalist honors and the Bears won the team title with a score of 310. Four West Branch golfers finished among the top seven.

Bob Ryan of Tipton was runner-up medalist with a 76.

Mid-Prairie’s Ian Schmidt had two rounds of 48 to post a personal best of 96 over 18 holes. Warren Scarff and Ben Mathes each carded 98.

Carson Pence also posted a personal best, scoring 120 with rounds of 59 and 61.

The Golden Hawks face Highland in a dual match Friday afternoon at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside.
