So now, after the mid-term elections, Iowa has the national distinction of being in the same lonely category as Florida. Really.
So many good candidates lost, so many issues of Iowans will not be supported by politicians in Washington D.C.
So, as a voter in Iowa, I ask myself: Who will champion the rights of workers, women’s health issues, environmental concerns, sensible gun regulations?
In their victory speeches, I failed to hear any of the “winners” vow to address the fact that they will be representing All Iowans. Maybe I missed it.
Having no voice in either the U.S. House or Senate is sobering. As Iowans, we all must be heard. After all, it is what democracy demands.
So, thank you to the candidates I voted for. Your efforts are appreciated.
