A memorial service was held in Pleasantview Home, Kalona, Tuesday, January 18.
Born April 18, 1926 in Charles City, he was the son of Harry and Bernadean (Alderman) Fisher. He received his education in Charles City public schools where he excelled in basketball and other sports.
Harry Fisher Jr., 73, of Kalona, died Thursday, January 13, 2000, in Pleasantview Home.
Services were Monday, January 17, in St. Mathias Catholic Church, Muscatine, with the Reverend Jack Gallagher officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Muscatine.
A memorial service was held in Pleasantview Home, Kalona, Tuesday, January 18.
Born April 18, 1926 in Charles City, he was the son of Harry and Bernadean (Alderman) Fisher. He received his education in Charles City public schools where he excelled in basketball and other sports.
After graduating from high school, Mr. Fisher joined the United States Navy where he served for 20 months including duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.
He married Joan Ruth Hennagir, May 29, 1948 in Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City.
Mr. Fisher was a life insurance salesman in Muscatine where he and his family lived for more than 35 years.
He enjoyed playing golf and cards.
He was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church in Muscatine and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joan, of 811 3rd St., Kalona; two sons and daughters-in-law. Gary and Karen Fisher of Kalona and Thomas and Shelly Fisher of Chicago; one daughter, Lori Fisher of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Seth and Kelsey Fisher and Colin, Kathleen and Kevin Gore; and two brothers, Leo Fisher of North Liberty and Richard Fisher of Eldora.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Deborah Fisher Gore.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Fisher’s name through Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in Muscatine for distribution to local church and community organizations.
