Born January 31, 1920 in St. Paul, Iowa, she was the daughter of Edward and Ida (Holtkamp) Kruse. She married Casper C. Schinstock January 3, 1940 in St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul.
Helen I. Schinstock, 79, of rural Salem died Tuesday, January 11, in Mt. Pleasant.
Services were Friday, January 14, in St. John’s Catholic Church, Houghton, with the Reverend Dennis Hoffman officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery.
Born January 31, 1920 in St. Paul, Iowa, she was the daughter of Edward and Ida (Holtkamp) Kruse. She married Casper C. Schinstock January 3, 1940 in St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul.
Mrs. Schinstock was a lifelong resident of the St. Paul - Houghton area and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. John’s.
Survivors include her husband, Casper; three sons and four daughters-in-law, David and Pamela Schinstock, Ted and Margaret Schinstock, Robert and Diana Schinstock, all of Salem, and Jane Schinstock of Mt. Pleasant; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Gerald Mertens of Donnellson, Marilyn and Curt Bernand of Donnellson, Irene and Jim Tweedy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mitzi and Art Schwartz of West Point, Rosanne and Roger Weber of Kalona, Barbara and Bill Hancock of Bloomington, Illinois, and Anne and Pat Allen of Pleasant Hill; thirty-three grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Wilfred Kruse of Salem and Sylvester Kruse of Hillsboro; and four sisters, Cecilia Klesner of Salem, Tillie Steffensmeier of Donnellson, Agnes Stukerjurgen of Salem, and Marcella Moore of Ft. Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ronald Schinstock, three brothers, Lawrence Kruse, Joe Kruse and Albert Kruse, two sisters, Gertrude and Edna, and one grandchild, Sam Weber.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church, Houghton.
