Highland girls team lost a tough game against Mediapolis, 70-32.
According to Coach Jerry Lippert, his team played Mediapolis close for one and a half quarters.
After foul trouble, in the second quarter, Highland never got back into the game.
The Huskies were only down three points with four minutes to go in the half. By the third minute of the second quarter Mediapolis built a nine point lead.
“Mediapolis killed us on the boards. They are a good ball team,” said Lippert.
Despite the loss, senior Jenny Sweeting had a good offensive performance, she scored 20 of Highland’s 32 points. Sweeting also collected seven boards, three steals and three blocked shots.
Mediapolis forced Highland to commit 26 turnovers.
This loss puts the Huskies at 2-2 for the season.
According to Coach Jerry Lippert, his Highland girls basketball team played their worst game of the season against New London, Dec. 10. The Huskies were defeated 52-21.
At halftime, New London went up 24-7.
Sweeting scored 15 of Highland’s 21 points. She also led the team with five steals.
Senior Krista Burich had a team-high 11 rebounds.
New London forced Highland to commit 26 turnovers,
“We were out played. The kids did not play well,” said Coach Lippert.
Despite the fact that Highland’s starters did not play half the game because of foul trouble, the Huskies still were able to defeat Cardinal 49-31, Dec. 11.
Burich led the team with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Michelle Ossman followed with 12 points. Randi Johnson had a team-high ten boards.
