On Friday, January 20, five members of the Highland High School band participated in the University of Dubuque High School Honor Band. They, along with students from 30 other schools in both Iowa and Illinois, spent the day in rehearsals with Dr. Nolan Hauta, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Concert Bands at the University of Dubuque, and Dr.Evan Glickman, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Athletic and Jazz Bands at the University of Dubuque.

From Highland, senior Ethan Krotz was selected on tuba, junior Andrew Lana was selected on alto saxophone, senior Joshua Lauer was selected as a percussionist, junior Gwen Piette was selected on trombone, and junior Ally Pokorny was selected on clarinet.

Additionally, at the end of the concert, Ethan Krotz was one of a handful of students chosen by the University of Dubuque to receive a music scholarship should he choose to go there for college.
