Hillcrest Academy’s volleyball girls celebrated their homecoming in a big way Tuesday night.
The Ravens high-fived each other on court and happily enjoyed the moment after a three-point run in the fourth set finished off an impressive victory against conference foe Louisa-Muscatine.
First-year head coach Brandon Statler was pumped.
“A tournament environment, right here at home in our first match,” he said. “So it’s gonna be a fun year.”
The Ravens were making their home debut, winning the match by scores of 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19.
Esther Hughes, a senior, had a team-high 11 kills, 7 aces and 11 digs. Malia Yoder, a freshman, had 7 kills.
Malia Yoder, Kylee Statler and Vlada Conea each had three blocks. Norah Yoder, a senior, had 26 assists, 4 aces and 11 digs. Evelyn Gerber, a senior, had a team-high 14 digs.
“Team effort that I couldn’t be more proud of,” Brandon Statler said. “That was right up there with all the highs and lows you can experience in a season and a career. Everything in one night.”
The victory was the Ravens’ second on Louisa Muscatine in four days and their third win in 11 matches.
