HILLS
The Hills City Council met on Monday, June 10, for a regularly scheduled meeting.
Here, they approved the purchase of new lights for the songbird sanctuary. The blue lights were chosen specifically to not affect any nearby residents since the light is dimmer than other options available. Additionally, the approved lights were cheaper than the others presented to Deputy Clerk Tamara Frembgen Kesner as she led the project.
The council also approved two additional resolutions: one set wages for employees, effective July 1. The other allowed the city to transfer some of their funds into a Certificate of Deposit (CD) bank account, something the city is keen to doing as a way to earn interest, saving money in the process.
Finally, the council reported that they are still waiting for the Iowa City Community School District to decide what they will do with the Hills Elementary building which officially closed at the end of the school year.
Next meeting: The Hills City Council will meet again on Monday, June 24, in the community center. The meeting will begin with a township meeting before the regular meeting commences.
