Keeping up their stellar play, the Highland girls golf team hit the road to compete in the Wapello Invite at the Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club on April 17 and left with the team championship

Among the seven schools who competed at Heritage Oaks, only six had enough golfers to post a team score.

With an even score of 400, the Huskies finished on top of the standings. Louisa-Muscatine ended with 423 for runner-up honors and Columbus placed third with 476.

The meet medalist came from the second-place school with senior Madison Bieri being the only golfer to shoot under 90. She carded an 87 to place first in the individual standings.

While the top spot in the individual standings eluded the Huskies, the next three spots did not.

Highland was led by junior Danika Kraus who was the runner-up medalist with 96 and not too far behind was Adisyn Prottsman and Adeline Krotz who both shot a 99 to finish third and fourth respectively.

The next top performing Huskies also placed one spot away from one another. Senior Kelsi Cerny shot a 106 to place seventh and Emersyn Schultz ended up in 8th place with a score of 107. The last Highland golfer in the standings was Haley Sands who carded a 116 to place 13th.

Taking on the Ravens in a dual meet at Blue Top Ridge on April 19, the Huskies turned up victorious yet again against a conference opponent this season.

It was a dominant effort for the Huskies who had all their golfers place in the top five with Hillcrest top performer placing sixth.

Highland sophomores Emersyn Schultz and Adisyn Prottsman earned medalist and runner-up medalist honors respectively. Schultz shot a 50 to place first and Prottsman earned second place with a score of 52.

Not too far behind their sophomore teammates were three seniors. Haley Sands and Halle Hazelett both carded a 53 while Kelsi Cerny shot a 55.

Leading the Ravens was sophomore Claire Withrow who placed 6th with a score of 67 and teammate Ava Miller finished with 68 to place 7th.
