IMS JV girls’ basketball opened their season with a loss to Keota, Dec. 4.
Cammy Perez led the Maroon and Black with nine points. Ashlee Gingerich scored eight points and ripped down 14 rebounds. Lisa Nye grabbed 11 boards and added seven points.
Coach Nancy Kelso-Weikel said, “We played much better in the second half which was encouraging.”
IMS only shot 27 percent from the field.
According to coach, the post players of Nye and Gingerich had solid games.
“Keota was aggressive and solid, so I thought we did okay for our first game. Schneider and Gingerich fouled out, which hurt us a bit.”
IMS JV girls basketball team couldn’t grab a win against Winfield Mount Union, 46-32.
“We got off to a slow start in the first half due to a lot of turnovers. The girls played hard in the second half.
“Carleen Perez sparked us and both ends with key steals and some great baskets,” said Kelso-Weikel.
IMS pulled within three points in the fourth quarter.
Foul trouble and Winfield Mount Union’s conversion of free throws put the game out of reach for IMS.
Perez led IMS with 12 points. Nye led the defense with seven rebounds.
