County nurses set flu shot clinic

An additional flu clinic, sponsored by the Washington County Public Health nurses, will be held Monday, November 8 from 5-6 p.m. in the Kalona Community Center. Cost is $15 and free to Medicare recipients.

Mid-Prairie Board meets Monday, November 8

The Mid-Prairie Board of Education meets Monday, November 8, at 7 p.m. in regular session at the high school. Agenda items include action on the line item budget, review of the 1999-2000 budget cuts, setting 1999-2000 board goals, action on bus specifications and on the SBRC allowable growth application, and a report from the superintendent about money management procedures.

IMS PTO meets

The Iowa Mennonite School Parent-Teacher Organization meets Tuesday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in the IMS chapel. Lowell Yoder, social worker at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, is the featured speaker.

Project GREEN plans Fall Rally November 7

Project GREEN will hold its Fall Rally Sunday, November 7, starting at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1200 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City. The event features the annual garden plant sale and a presentation by Ed Rinderspacher of KXIC/WMT’s Lawn and Garden Show about tips for winterizing a garden.

Mennonite Historical Society meets

The annual fall meeting of the Mennonite Historical Society is Tuesday, November 9, starting at 7 p.m. in the Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church, Kalona. A short business session includes election of two board members. The program features Reminiscing of the Kinsinger Families, given by descendants of Bishop Peter Kinsinger and his brother, Elias Kinsinger, of Johnson and Iowa Counties. Refreshments will be served and the program is open to the public.

Festival of Trees planned by Mercy Foundation

The 8th annual Festival of Trees, sponsored by Mercy Hospital Foundation, is set for November at the Radisson Inn, Interstate 80 and Highway 1, Iowa City. As part of the program, special events are set for November 19 and November 20. A luncheon, style show and mini-auction are 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., a Silver Bells Tea, from 3-5 p.m. that features Legends of the Holidays, and Family Night at 6:30 p.m., November 19. A gala and live auction is November 20, starting at 6:30 p.m.
