U.S. Representative Leonard Boswell will have staff member Rob Sueppel meet with constituents in Washington County this month. Locations are Kalona City Hall, 10:30-11:30 a.m., and Wellman City Hall, 1-2 p.m, July 19. Boswell also may be reached at 1-888-432-1984.

Ice cream social set

An ice cream social and hymn singing is set at the Windham Community Church, Windham, from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, July 18.

Annual F Troop reunion

Cavalry reenactors and veterans will parade through Washington July 24 at 11 a.m. as part of the reunion of the 113th Iowa National Guard Cavalry Troop F. Parade starts at Troop F headquarters, 219 Elm Grove Road. The public may join reenactors (in authentic costumes) at F Troop headquarters following the parade for speakers and demonstrations of military equipment. Lunch will be available, as well as tours of the Troop’s museum. Final event is a USO dinner at the VFW Club in Washington. This year’s program coincides with the reunion of the Red Horse Division, actual Troop F veterans.

Kids Day at county fair

Kids Day at the Washington County Fair is July 22 opening with a pet parade at 9:30 a.m. Other activities are Bubble Gum Olympics, Face Painting, Bubble Magic and Beautiful Butterflies.

Thanksgiving in July set

The first Thanksgiving in July, a citywide food drive, is set for July 19-25 in Iowa City. Food will be distributed through the Crisis Center Food Bank in Iowa City. Barrels for contributions will be in area grocery stores, and trucks donated by Hawkeye Food Systems will collect items July 24. Organizers are Mercy Iowa City, Fresh Food Concepts and Hawkeye Food Systems.

ADD expert speaks at seminar July 26

Dr. J. C. Cluney, nationally known expert on Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) will speak at a free seminar Monday, July 26, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Kalona Chamber of Commerce Building, 514 B Ave. Sponsored by HealthSource, Inc. of Springfield, Illinois. The program will deal with Cluney’s use of natural protocols (vitamins, minerals and herbs) for ADD, ADHD and depression. For more information and to register, call 1-888-266-1043.

Self-Renewal Day set

Self-Renewal Day, among the Better Health and Fitness events arranged by Mercy Iowa City, is set for Saturday, July 24, in the Community Room at the Coral Ridge Mall.
