Irene Neuzil, 92, of Oxford, died Friday, June 18, 1999 in Lantern Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Coralville, following a lengthy illness.
Services were Tuesday, June 22 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oxford, with the Reverend Kenneth Kuntz officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Born March 8, 1907, in Iowa City, she was the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Schwinn) Vitosh. She attended City High School and graduated from Irish Business College. She married Thomas J. Neuzil September 2, 1925 in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. The couple farmed west of Iowa City for many years.
Mrs. Neuzil was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, National Catholic Order of Foresters and the Union Township Women’s Club.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Joanne Neuzil of Riverside; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Francis Denner of Fort Madison and Ann E. and Paul Langenberg of Oxford; one daughter-in-law, Delores Neuzil of Muskogee, Oklahoma; one sister, Evelyn Holmes of West Covina, California; one half-sister, Marilyn Lacina of West Branch; one brother-in-law, John F. Neuzil of Iowa City; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; one son, Thomas J. Neuzil; one sister, Helen McCormick; and one granddaughter Mary Jo Neuzil.
