The Washington County Safety Center Citizens Study Committee will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. at the Ainsworth Opera House Monday, May 24.
The committee is expected to receive cost estimates for building a 2-story safety center at the site of the present center north of the courthouse in Washington.
Architect Roddy Moore of Moore & Associates, Omaha, Nebraska, presented a preliminary floor plan at the Kalona meeting May 10. The plan had the jail on the second floor with administrative offices, the communications center and officer quarters on first floor.
Committee Chairman Harvey Holden invites citizens to give their in-put. Randy Lampe, president of PCS & Associates, Houghton, is expected to present the preliminary estimates, with a 20 per cent overage, for the committee to consider.
