Janet Long Dancers help Salvation Army

The Janet Long Dancers topped last year’s total for contributions to the Salvation Army. The group delivered 14 boxes of food, three boxes of hats, mittens and gloves, six boxes of notebooks, markers, crayons and pencils; three boxes of books, one box of backpacks, two boxes of puzzles and games, one box of sheets, blankets and towels, five boxes of shoes and boots, 20 bags and boxes of toys and stuffed animals, plus scooters, riding toys, a castle and a carriage; eight bags of diapers and paper products and 45 boxes, plastic bags and shopping bags of clothing.

All items were delivered December 20.

The winning Iowa City class was the Tuesday, 4:30 p.m., one consisting of Abigail Hove, Mikayla Dundon, Erin Flynn, Kayla Kamber, Anisha Kamal, Courtney Lenane, Devyn Alexander, Rachel Gelssel and Amanda Fuhrmeister.

The winning Wellman class was the Saturday, 10:30 a.m. one consisting of Morgan Miller, Annie Jones, Kaitlyn Yoder, Jordan Duwa, Shelby Gordon, Sara Johnson, Sara Young and Drew Powell.

The three top dancers with big individual contributions were Sarah Hoffman, Mackenzie Milliman and Emily Capper. All were treated to a pizza party January 17.

The approximate count, for all items, was 4,149, and is the largest in the group’s history of obtaining items for the Salvation Army.
