The Kalona Golf Club is hosting a Junior Golf Camp sponsored by the Kalona Optimist this year that goes from July 11 until July 14. The camp will be held from 8 a.m. until noon every day, and it will be held at Kalona Golf Course. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, June 30.
Boys and girls ages 7 to 18 are invited to participate in the camp. There will be three days of instruction from high school golf coaches, college golfers, and course professionals. The last day of camp will consist of a 3–9-hole tournament based on age group. Prizes for the respected winners will be handed out after the tournament but there will also be daily prizes to be won throughout the camp.
Cost for registration is $100 per camper, but $80 for members or if multiple campers attending are in the same family. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt.
“Our junior camp is something that we look forward to every year and it would be difficult to have it as nice as we do have it without the amazing support of the Optimists,” Kalona Golf Club Manager Jeff Leach said.
The Kalona Optimists are donating $1,500 to sponsor the camp plus they are offering scholarships to the young golfers who could not otherwise afford to participate. Contact Jeff Leach at the Kalona Golf Club clubhouse for more information.
