Kalona Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed Iowa Family Counseling as a member by presenting an official member plaque on Saturday, May 14. On hand to greet the office at 409 B Avenue were board members Phil Ropp (Kalona Development board) , Katie Karnes (Woodin Wheel),  Grace Schumann (Stitch ‘N Sew) Olivia Kahler (Kalona Library), Latasha Cardenas, Kerstin Marmin,  Elisa Lyons (owner)  Tonia Poole (Chamber director),  Sarah Maarble,  Maddie Marshall, Shelby Zahradnek, Pam Thomas (CBI Bank) and Ron Slechta (The News). The Iowa Counseling accepts referrals and walk-ins. They also work closely with Mid-Prairie and Highland schools.  Lyons opened the center in October of 2020 with the goal of helping all ages in the Kalona Community with various needs of mental health.
