Kalona Days judged a success

With more than 100 entries participating in the parade and almost 1,500 people eating the barbequed beef meal Saturday evening, Kalona Days 1999 was considered a success. There was a good turnout for the Variety Show Friday evening, as well as the live entertainment Saturday.

The bed and grocery cart races entertained people in the downtown area after the parade and new events, such as helicopter rides and a garden tractor pull, drew good crowds to the Kalona City Park Saturday afternoon.

Winners in the various Kalona Days contests are listed below in their order of placement: first place, second place, third place and fourth place (as applicable).

The results of other contests may be found in Kalona Cooks and in the Sports Section.
