A wide variety products from the Kalona area are sold at the Kalona Booth in the Varied Industries Building (across from the Grandstand) during the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. Some of the items are wood products such as clocks, clipboards, wooden utensils, toys and more, tapioca, Lady Finger popcorn, candy and bakery products, books, hand-crafted Christmas ornaments, baskets, crocheted items, quilted wallhangings, rubber stamps, embroidered items and meat products.
Merchants who are providing the goods this year are E & K Crafts, Ellen’s Sewing Center, Kalona Chamber of Commerce, Mystique Creations, Reifs Family Center, Schlabaugh & Sons, Village Shoppe, Stitch ‘N Sew Cottage, Kalona Historical Society, Kalona Furniture Company, lst Class Apparel, Greene Center Bookstore, JK Creative Wood, Willow Creek Collectibles, Kalona Meats, Kalona Bakery, JW’s Foods, foods Naturally, JoAnn Neuzil, Sisters’ Garden and Jade’s Antiques.
Transportation
The food items are delivered fresh daily throughout the fair’s run and the transportation is only for the goods. Individual volunteer workers and demonstrators provide their own transportation.
Tickets
Discounted tickets for workers and demonstrators are available at the Kalona Chamber office, and those who have signed up as volunteers may purchase them there between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
