The Kalona Optimist club will hear from Casey Peck and Jeremy Statler about the Golden Hawks’ archery club when they meet in the Loft at the Kalona YMCA on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.
Bob Miller is in charge of the meeting in the absence of President Carl Poe, and Tyler Coblentz is responsible for the program.
Thursday is also International Optimist Day. Last year Mayor Mark Robe proclaimed the first Thursday in February to be Optimist Day in Kalona.
The Optimist Valentine’s Day dinner will be held at Miller Homestead Cooking at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. Guests and Friends of the Optimists are welcome to attend the meal; the cost is $20, and reservations are requested.
