KCTC notified customers in Kalona and Washington this month that their internet speeds, at all levels, will be increasing in January.’

In most cases the “upload” speeds for all levels of service will be seeing some form of increase, according to CEO Casey Peck.

“As a result of our increase in customers subscribing to our internet services,” she said, “we are able to obtain a higher volume of internet services without increase in prices… We are pleased to pass this increase in capacity to our customers without increasing prices. In fact, we are able to lower the price of our high end gigabite  upload and download service.”

“When we find ways to get more speeds to our customers without increasing their costs, we get excited, as we hope our customers are,” she added.

The upload speeds of most levels of service will be at least doubled.

The increases for individual or family levels are:

Power: 75Mbps download/ 75 Mbps (up from 30) upload.

Family: 250 Mbps download/150 Mbps (up from 75) upload.

Platinum: 400 Mbps download/250 Mbps (up from 125) upload.

GIG!: 1,000 Mbps download and upload/Price reduced to $169.99 a month.

New speeds for business customers are:

Economic: 150 Mbps download/150 Mbps (up from 50) upload.

Enterprise: 250 Mbps download/250 Mbps (up from 80) upload.

Corporate: 450 Mbps download/ 350 Mbps (up from 120 upload.

GIG!: 1,000 Mbps upload and download/ price reduced to $269.99.

Kalona customers are benefiting by KCTC expanding into the Washington market.  Peck noted that KCTC has more expansion plans in the works.  This year KCTC plans to extend service to all areas of the Washington market.

In addition, KCTC has received a grant to expand broadband services in the rural area from southern Riverside south to Washington. This is in addition to the expansion  along Highway 1 between Kalona and Washington.

Peck also noted that KCTC continues to provide services that allow customers to watch TV on a variety of devices. KCTC is also offering streaming services with the use of FireTV Stick, Apple Ipads, AppleTV, etc.  If you are looking for streaming TV options with your local channels, visit www.KCTC.net/SHOP and see the KCTC TV options from EPIC.
