City of Kalona officials ask that residents, when mowing lawns, keep the grass from going into the street. The grass accumulates in the gutters and then washes into the storm sewers where it regularly clogs drains and creates other problems. In fact, the city has an actual ordinance regarding the issue.
The city also reminds residents that the city’s burn pile on A Ave. is for tree limbs, not for grass and yard clippings. The burn pile is also only for the use of Kalona residents.
