Emil Schlabaugh and Rich Miller carded an 88 to win the men’s July 5th golf tournament at Kalona Golf Club Monday.
Two teams finished six shots back. Jim Hauth and Gilbert Troyer finished with a 94 for second and Larry Kauffman and Mike Hull also ended with a 94 for third.
Larry and Peggy Kauffman won the couples’ outing event with a 37 Monday night. Jerry and Shari Hawkins were four shots back (41), while Mike and Shelly Hull were third (48) and Stacy and Melanie Reece finished fourth (52).
Thirty couples played the alternate shot tournament format.
Produce cuts into Stumpf margin
Wellman Produce cut into Stumpf Concrete’s lead during June 29th play in the Wellman Golf Course men’s league.
Produce trailed by just three points (18.5-15.5) going into July 6th action. Auto Cool Wildcats were five points behind the leaders, while Hubbard Feed was seven and a half back.

McArtor 33 highlights KGC men’s league
Tracy McArtor fired a three-under-par 33, highlighting Kalona Golf Club men’s league action last Wednesday.
With that round, McArtor earned low gross honors. Greg Harland was low net with a 30.
In the league standings, Kalona Standard (21.5) held a one and a half point lead on Yotty’s (20) going into July 7th play. Fin and Feather stood in third (17.5), while Kalona Truck and Tractor (17) and Farmers Supply (14.5) rounded out the top five.
The rest of the league standings are as follows: 6. Hills Bank Kalona 14, 7. (tie) Agri-King and Supershine 13.5, 9. (tie) Farmers Savings Bank and Yoder Tax 13, 11. Razor’s Edge 12, 12. Hochstedler Insurance 10.5, 13. Kalona Builders 9, 14. Lone Tree 8.5, 15. Sodbusters 6.5, 16. Hard Luck 6
Yotty’s Hardware still led the women’s league chase after play last Monday. Their 13.5-point total was a point and a half ahead of Farmers Savings Bank and Supershine. Personal Sunshine and Schlabaugh’s Sluggers were tied for fifth.
Shirley Harland was low gross with a 42, while Lois Hawkins had the low net score with a 29.
