Nearly $2,000 was returned to five lucky customers who had purchased furniture June 2 at Kinneer Home Furnishings, Inc. in Kalona.
All customers were informed they could participate in a Kinneer promotion where they possibly may get a refund for the furniture purchased in June if they were lucky enough to make their purchases on the day that came closest to the average June sales day.
Some elected not to take part since participation required a larger than normal special order deposit. Floor covering and drapery sales were not included in the average sales figure.
Winners were Mrs. Ralph Fisher of Wellman, $340; Clara Reschly of Washington, $320; Virginia Weber of Sigourney, $832; Bill and Phyllis Adams of Iowa City, $60 and Doris M. Holtkamp of Iowa City, $405.
Called One Free Day of Business, the promotion originated with a Broyhill Furniture advertising executive. Kinneer officials said the promotion seems to add excitement for customers, as well as employees, at the store.
Ironically, no Kalona people were winners this year. last year Julie Gingerich won $1,243 and the Wolterings of Keota, $636.
