LONE TREE

With another softball season in the books the Lady Lions collected double digit wins for the fourth consecutive year and the talent that helped them secure those wins were recognized with all-conference honors.

This year Lone Tree went 7-3 at home and 4-7 on the road. They averaged 6.9 runs per game and surrendered 5.9 runs per game. On offense the Lady Lions scored 196 runs, had 193 hits, 137 RBIs, and stole 94 bases.

On defense they struck out 158 batters and Alex Dautremont was responsible for 91 of those strikeouts, the fifth most in the conference.

Starting on the mound a team high 17 times , Dautremont was selected first-team all-conference in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North division as an infielder.

The Lone Tree junior ended her year with an 8-8 pitching record and with an ERA of 3.19. Her fielding percentage of .991 was good enough for the second best in the SEISC North. On offense Dautremont had a batting average of .257, 19 hits, and 14 RBIs.

Joining Dautremont on first team is fellow junior Vivian Zaruba. Leading the Lady Lions in multiple categories, Zaruba was chosen first-team all-conference as an outfielder.

Showcasing the speed she displays when running in track & field and cross country, Zaruba was a blur as a baserunner, going 27 for 30 on stolen base attempts, which is the fourth most in the SEISC North.  She also found home base often, scoring a team high 31 runs.

Zaruba also led the team in hits (28) along with 12 RBIs and ended her year with a batting average of .341.

Going from one Zaruba to another, Abby Zaruba completed a productive freshman year by earning second-team all-conference honors as a pitcher.

Starting in 10 games on the mound and with a 5-6 pitching record, Zaruba amassed 67 strikeouts with an ERA of 5.87. She only gave 71 hits, the fifth least in the conference.

When Zaruba wasn’t pitching, she was stationed at first base, and she led the Lady Lions in putouts (96) and had a .960 fielding percentage. On offense she scored 10 runs, connected on 11 hits, and knocked in 13 runs.

One of two seniors on this year’s Lady Lions team was Hogan Eden and after another excellent season, Eden was chosen second-team all-conference as an infielder.

Primarily playing at third base, Eden has the third most assists (27) on the team and had a .867 fielding percentage. She allowed zero stolen bases and only committed six errors on 45 total chances.

When up to bat Eden was the only Lady Lion to tally more than 20 RBIs, leading the team in that all-important category with 23. She scored 17 runs and had 18 hits, with five of them being doubles and the rest being singles.

Also earning second-team all-conference honors was Rylee Shield.

Shield (similar to her fellow junior teammate, Vivian Zaruba) used her speed to her advantage as a baserunner, going 20 for 22 on stolen bases and scoring 23 runs.

With a batting average of .400, Shield had the second most hits on the team (24) and finished with 14 RBIs.

Rounding out the Lady Lions postseason accolades, Kayleigh Rundlett and Olivia Magruder both earned honorable mention all-conference.

Primarily playing as a catcher when on defense, Rundlett had a fielding percentage of .938 and had six assists to go along with 84 putouts. On offense she had 11 hits and four RBIs with a batting average of .333.

For Magruder (playing shortstop along with catcher) she was able to catch a base runner stealing three times this season which is the fifth most in the SEISC North. Dealing six assists and 75 putouts, she had the second-best fielding percentage (.976) on the team. On offense she scored 11 runs, had nine hits and 14 RBIs.
