By News Dept.
The newly established Kalona Public Library Foundation will hold its first kick-off event, an ice cream social, Saturday, July 24, from 3-5 p.m. on the library grounds. In case of rain, the event will be in the recreation room of the Kalona Community Center. Free-will offerings will be accepted.
The Foundation, now in the process of gaining non-profit status, was formed to provide long-term financial support for the Kalona Public Library.
Its first, and primary, concern is a new library building. To help achieve that goal, the Foundation welcomes contributions from individuals, businesses or organizations.
Contributions may be cash gifts, multi-year pledges, other assets such as securities or personal property, life insurance, annuities and trusts, bequests and memorial gifts. All donations are tax deductable.
Directors of the Foundation are Pat Anderson; Martha Beckman; David Droz; Kathleen Jepson; Edward Yoder; Velma Skola; Anne Skaden, librarian; Joyce Mattes, secretary; K. Dean Miller, treasurer; Charles J. Yoder, vice-president; and Scott Stapleton, president.
Anyone interested in being a part of the Foundation or its fund-raising efforts may contact one of the above.
