Crews from Alliant Utilities removed lights poles in downtown Kalona Monday, March 22, as part of the repair and refurbishing project undertaken by the utility service last fall. The poles will be back in place before the annual Kalona Quilt Show & Sale at the end of April, company officials promised. Besides their obvious uses, the poles are also the “location” for the Kalona Chamber of Commerce’s Welcome to Kalona banners which also will be in place before the end of April.
