Lillian Ruth Tindal, 79, of Washington, died Monday, July 12, 1999, in her home following a brief illness.

Funeral services were Thursday, July 15, in Fern Cliff Evangelic Free Church, rural Washington, with the Reverend Donald Johansen officiating. Burial was in Fern Cliff Cemetery.

Born June 10, 1920 in South English, she was the daughter of Joseph Levi and Ida Mae (Whetstine) Bell. She graduated from Wellman High School with two years of Normal training.

She married Leonard Tindal December 31, 1967, in Washington.

She worked as a rural school teacher, cashier at the State Theater, manager of J.C. Penny’s catalog department, bookkeeper at Kennedy Insurance and associate teacher in special education.

Mr. Tindal was a member of the Fortnightly Club, Y Women and Senior Citizen Counseling.

She was a member of Fern Cliff Evangelic Free Church and F.C.W.M. Mission Group. She served as treasurer for the church.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard of Washington; two sons, Gary A. Lewis of Fridley, Minnesota and Jim Lewis of Bloomington, Illinois; one daughter, Patricia Karlsson of Reston, Virginia; three step-sons, Douglas Tindal of Washington; Steven Tindal of Bradenton, Florida, and Mark Tindal of Fargo, North Dakota; one step-daughter, Phyllis Greiner of Keota; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Edna Tedford of Washington, and one brother, Donald Bell of Morning Sun.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Everette Bell, Otto Bell, Ellis Bell, Carl Bell and Calvin Bell; one stepson, and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Fern Cliff Evangelic Free Church or Hospice of Washington County.
