LONE TREE

Getting to play at home for its final game of the season, Lone Tree celebrated senior night by welcoming Easton Valley for a district 8-5 showdown.

Reaching their season high in points scored, the River Hawks earned a 66-31 win over the Lions on Oct. 18.

Lone Tree ends its season on a five-game losing streak with its final record standing at 2-6. For Easton Valley, the win improves its record to 4-4.

Throwing for over 300 yards to lead his team to victory was Easton Valley junior Keagan Lee.

Lee completed 14 passes on 16 attempts to reach a season high 325 yards and he also accounted for eight touchdowns, six passing and two rushing. On the ground he was the River Hawk’s leading rusher with 54 yards in 12 carries.

The talented Easton Valley quarterback has put together a quality junior season on offense. Through eight games Lee leads the team in passing yards (1809), passing TDs (23), rushing yards (438), and rushing TDs (7).

One of the main benefactors of Lee’s passes against Lone Tree was fellow junior Callan Messerich.

Messerich ended the night with the team lead in catches (6), receiving yards (190), and receiving TDs (3). His near 200-yard receiving night propelled Messerich across the 1,000-yard barrier for the season.

Fitting for senior night, Lone Tree was led by its senior starting quarterback, Maddox Jondle.

Jondle accounted for four TDs through the air, completing six passes on 13 attempts for 122 yards and no interceptions. As a rusher, Jondle ran for 80 yards on 18 carries. This season Jondle is Lone Tree’s leading rusher with 956 yards.

On defense Jondle was also a force to be reckoned with, tallying a team high nine total tackles. Just behind him was fellow senior teammate Brody Magruder who recorded eight total tackles.

Even as a kick returner, Jondle made an impact, returning four kicks for a total of 102 yards.

Also making a significant impact for the Lions in their season finale was Domonic Garcia.

The standout junior rushed for a team high 84 yards on 10 carries and ran one into the endzone for a TD. As a pass catcher, Gracia ended with a team best 79 yards on four catches and three of those catches resulted in TDs. Reece Holbrook was also a recipient of a TD catch, finishing two catches for 43 yards.

Garcia wraps up this season leading Lone Tree in receiving yards (531) and receiving TDs (11).

As the season ends for Lone Tree, they say goodbye to five seniors: Jondle, Magruder, Clemens Swaink, Jack Patterson, and McKoy Boardman.
