Tiffany Curtis, a 1999 graduate of Mid-Prairie High School and a freshman at Luther College, Decorah, is a member of the school’s 1999-2000 Chamber Orchestra. She also is playing 2nd chair, the highest position a freshman can earn, with the College Symphony Orchestra.
The daughter of Gary and Becky Curtis of Iowa City, she is a music major.
Curtis took part in Christmas at Luther December 2-5, including a performance of Handel’s Messiah and four performances of Juletide. In the Messiah performance the 84-piece orchestra accompanied the 875 voice chorus and soloists.
Curtis also was in a trio of soloists who played the prelude as the chorus entered. Juletide was a concert of all seven of Luther’s choirs, accompanied intermittently by a 30-piece Chamber Orchestra, organ, piano and harpsichord. Juletide will be broadcast on IPTV December 16 and 22 at 8 p.m. and December 23 at 12:30 p.m.
Curtis also is freshman representative for the orchestra. directed by Dr. Daniel Baldwin.
The chamber orchestra is a select group of instrumentalists drawn from the ranks of the symphony orchestra.
