The Lone Tree school board met on June 21 to discuss a myriad of topics, and it proved successful as the board passed a lot of important measures for the school.
A list of items that were pushed back from a previous work session were voted on.
The board approved a quote from West Branch Roofing to work on the north gym’s roof.
The board approved new curriculum for both math and Spanish courses. Math will be using McGraw-Hill on a six-year cycle. Spanish will be using Cengage, also on a six-year cycle. These two measures will keep the school in contact with fresh textbooks and a consistent curriculum to better improve learning in each course.
The board also approved a measure to create a five-year cycle for replacing Chromebooks and a six-year cycle for replacing staff computers to make sure all computers in the building are up-to-date, especially Chromebooks which need to stay updated for testing purposes. This ensures each student and staff member will have a trusty piece of hardware to better enable their future success.
The board faced two new business items, the F&M Corporate Authorization Resolution and the Koch Service Agreement. The board approved both measures. The former just replaces the previous superintendent’s name with the new superintendent. The latter is a one-year agreement that makes Koch the primary care technician for printers and other similar products. It also creates a set price for printing and repair fees.
The board made swift progress at this meeting, finishing in just over an hour, joking at the end with how fast the meeting flew by while still accomplishing a lot.
The board will next meet on July 5 at 6:30 p.m. for a workshop in the superintendent’s office, sandwiched in with holiday festivities.
