Lone Tree beats Hillcrest, 62-51

The Lone Tree Lions triumphed over Hillcrest Academy Jan. 14 behind a 28-point performance of Keegan Edwards.

When the final buzzer sounded, the Lions recorded a 62-51 victory.

Hillcrest looked like it had pulled within one point of Lone Tree at the half on a Eli Ours shot with seconds left, but Lone Tree Keegan Edwards took the inbounds pass and sunk a a 3-point shot from the half-court line as the buzzer sounded to give the Lions a 32-28 halftime lead.

Just to show it was not a fluke, Edwards made another long 3-point shot as the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter.

Cory Krueger had 11, Cale Yoder had nine and Harmon Miller finished with eight points for the Lions.

For Hillcrest, John Hughes had 17 points and Eli Ours had 14.

On Jan. 16, Lone Tree dropped a road contest to BGM 74-61.

In the Thursday night game, Edwards scored 16 points, and Yoder had 15; Tyler Bell contributed 12 for the Lions with 12 rebounds.

Hillcrest’s second game of the week against Washington was postponed due to weather.
