Cade Patterson and Adam Knock each hit a home run over the right field fence at Hillcrest on Friday as Lone Tree came away with a 4-3 win.

The Lions and Ravens were tied 2-2 after six innings. Matt Hemsted scored on a passed ball and the Lions added a critical insurance run to take a two-run lead to the seventh.

Joe Boxwell earned the win in relief, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over 2 and 1/3 innings. Cade Patterson made the start and allowed just four hits and two runs. He pitched around seven walks to keep the game close heading into the sixth.

“Cade Patterson really controlled the game and kept himself out of dangerous situations with some good defense behind him,” Lone Tree coach Mike Close said. “Joe Boxwell did a great job of attacking the strike zone, and keeping walks down by both pitchers was big for us.”

The solo home runs accounted for all of Lone Tree’s hits in the win. The Lions drew eight walks, led by Knock and Tyler Bell, who each had two. Patterson also drew a walk and scored two runs.

Josiah Beachy took the tough loss for Hillcrest. He gave up three earned runs on two hits and six walks while striking out 10.

Grant Bender had a hit and drove in two runs for the Ravens, he also reached base once on error. Luke Schrock was 2-4 at the plate and reached on an error as well. Phoenix Anderson had a hit, a walk and scored a run. Liam Schrock was 1-1 and walked three times. Beachy walked twice as well.

The Lions snapped a three-game losing streak to Hillcrest, who had won seven of the last eight meetings.
