The Board of Directors of the Lone Tree Community School District special session was called to order by President Sladek at 6:19 p.m., April 2, 2025, in the Library.
PRESENT: Eden, Hotz (remote), Ogren, Sladek, Viers
ABSENT: None
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Upon motion by Viers, seconded by Ogren, it was
RESOLVED: to approve the April 2, 2025 special session agenda
ALL AYE: Motion Carried 5-0
GREENHOUSE
Discussion held on greenhouse size, location, drainage, grant applications, fundraising, and construction timelines.
Upon motion by Eden, seconded by Ogren, it was
RESOLVED: to approve the greenhouse project using the already donated funds in the amount of $39,400.93, District contribution in the amount of $75,000, and future fundraised money with the understanding that all funds need to be raised prior to any work being started.

NEW POSITION: 9-12 MATH TEACHER
Principal Koshatka presented on FTE options, unit offerings, and schedule impacts in regards to current and proposed math teacher positions.
Upon motion by Viers, seconded by Eden, it was
RESOLVED: to approve the addition of 1.0 FTE math teacher

Discussion held on four multi-purpose room proposals from Shive-Hattery and options for wrestling programs.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS/EARLY GRADUATION
Discussion held on reviewing requirements. No changes presented.
CERTIFIED HANDBOOK
Discussion held on amending 2025-2026 Certified Handbook language to increase the District’s monthly contribution toward health insurance to keep in-line with the Affordable Care Act.
FOOTBALL PROGRAM
Discussion held on community meetings, questions, sharing options, a long-term plan, and player surveys.
CLASSIFIED HANDBOOK
Discussion held on proposed changes in 2025-2026 Classified Handbook in regards to holidays and vacation leave.
DEBT SERVICE PREPAYMENT LEVY
Discussion held on timeline for debt service prepayment levy. Resolution for Board approval at April 16, 2025 regular meeting.
SIMBLI – MEETINGS & POLICIES
Discussion held on changing to Simbli for Board meetings, Board policies, and District meetings due to a better format and more efficient processes.
POLICY PRIMER VOL. 33 #3 (FIRST REVIEW)
Board reviewed policy primer updates in preparation for first reading at April regular meeting.
CLOSED OR EXECUTIVE SESSION PER IOWA CODE §21.5(1)(i) – SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION
Upon motion by Eden, seconded by Viers, it was
RESOLVED: to enter into closed session to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session per Iowa Code §21.5(1)(i)

The Board entered into closed session at 8:56 p.m.
