The Lone Tree FFA had their 6th Annual FFA degree ceremony on Jan. 11 in the Lone Tree cafeteria.
The Lone Tree Alumni and Friends of the FFA sponsored the socially distanced event. The group provided ice cream bars for attendees to take home from the ceremony.
At the degree ceremony, first and second year FFA members were awarded with their Greenhand (first year) and Chapter degrees. The new members were also “coated” with their FFA Jacket by the Lone Tree FFA chapter members.
Greenhand Degrees are given to first-year members who have demonstrated knowledge of FFA past to present; know and understand the FFA creed, motto and salute; are enrolled in and completed an agricultural education course; and have satisfactory plans for a supervised agricultural experience program (SAE).
The following 16 FFA members received their Greenhand degrees: Cole Abbott, Lila Bell, Harry Brenneman, Troy Christofferson, Jenna Dotson, Hogan Eden, Lucas Forbes, Katie Franker, Dominic Graap, Caleb Grissom, Kelly Marshek, Layla McMartin, Bailey McGrew, Tavyn Puga, William Rockafellow and Weston Waldschmidt.
Chapter degrees are given to students who have completed two years of agricultural education courses and FFA membership, earned and invested at least $150 dollars or worked at least 45 unpaid hours outside of class time in an SAE program, demonstrated five parliamentary procedure abilities, and have shown progress towards individual achievement in FFA.
The following 17 students received their Chapter degrees: Oliver Altenhofen, Ella Buser, Jackson Buser, Madelyn Eden, Annabelle Forbes, Colton Jondle, Darian Ketchum, Mitchell Koedam, Riley Krueger, Avery Shalla, Emma Slaughter, Javid Smith, Braden Viers, Taj Williams, Lindsay Werbach, Ethan Willoz and Wyatt Yoder.
Additionally, Hills Bank generously sponsored 17 of Lone Tree’s FFA jackets through their jacket program where the students set up an interview with a Hills Bank representative, attended the interview, and went through the process with the representative. The Lone Tree FFA chapter is very thankful for the support from Hills Bank.
It was a great degree ceremony and the Lone Tree FFA chapter has a lot of potential with this great group of future agriculturalists.
