On April 17, 2025, at approximately 1 a.m., the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic assault at a residence in Lone Tree. Upon arrival, the deputy located a victim with injuries consistent with strangulation. The victim informed the deputy that the defendant, Elmer Tovias Valencia Madrigal, had assaulted her by grabbing her with his hands around her neck and strangling her until she was nearly unconscious, causing visible injury to her neck.
Valencia Madrigal lived with the victim and their biological minor children, who were home at the time of the incident.
Valencia Madrigal was transported to the Johnson County Jail on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault – Impeding Flow of Air/Blood (Aggravated Misdemeanor); Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor); and Domestic Abuse Assault – Injury or Mental Illness, 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor).
Valencia Madrigal had his initial appearance in court on April 17, 2025, and was released on a $5,000 bond. A No Contact Order against Valencia Madrigal has been filed for the victim and the minor children.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
