Lone Tree Community School is proud to announce that it has been honored with the prestigious Better Together 2030 “Inspire” Award. This award recognizes educational institutions that go above and beyond to engage, support, and uplift students.

The award was presented by Sarah Thompson, Director of Rural Development for Greater Iowa City, who highlighted the unique strengths of Lone Tree Community School.

"This district serves over 400 students from PK through 12th grade, all in one building. Located just 15 minutes southeast of Iowa City, the one-building setup fosters a close-knit family feel and allows for relatively small class sizes. This enables students to receive individualized attention to support their unique learning needs," said Thompson.

Lone Tree Community School is home to award-winning teachers and administrators, and the community is fortunate to have such a dedicated and innovative educational institution. The district has embraced student-centered learning and broad community partnerships to ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Adding a personal touch to the ceremony, Thompson shared a heartwarming story about her own fifth-grade teacher, Russ Forbes, who was a first-year teacher from Lone Tree.

"I still remember the impact my fifth-grade teacher had on me.” Thompson reminisced.

The Inspire Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Lone Tree Community School District. The district's commitment to innovation, student-centered learning, and community engagement has set a high standard for educational excellence.
