The Cash Cows of Lone Tree High School topped the leaderboard with sharp strategy and teamwork on April 24 at the JA Stock Market Challenge, held at Olympic South Side Theater in Cedar Rapids. The event raised more than $100,000 to support Junior Achievement programs across Eastern Iowa.

Twenty-seven student teams from high schools across the region took part in a high-stakes stock market simulation, putting their financial skills and teamwork to the test. The hands-on experience gave students a chance to explore investing, market strategy, and collaboration in a dynamic, real-world environment.

Trailing the Cash Cows in second place were the Wall Street Warriors from Springville High School, and in third place were the Stonks from Kennedy High School, Cedar Rapids. The three other teams from Lone Tree placed 7th, 14th, and 20th.

In the evening, 52 corporate teams competed in the adult session of the challenge, showcasing their financial instincts while raising critical funds for JA programming. Their participation directly supported JA’s mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. United Iowa Financial’s team finished the game with the most valuable portfolio on the floor; RSM’s team finished with the highest return on investment.

JA of Eastern Iowa says the event is more than just a competition, it’s a launchpad for young people to discover their potential, develop practical life skills, and see themselves as future leaders.
