The League of Women Voters of Johnson County will hold three candidate forums before the June 2022 Primary Election.
The candidate forums will be held in person and will be Livestreamed via the League Facebook page. Iowa City’s City Channel 4 will live stream the candidate forums that are held at The Center on City Channel 4 YouTube channel, the League’s website, lwvjc.org, and Facebook page. Rebroadcasts of the forums will be offered on City Channel 4 on Mediacom cable, as well as on their website at citychannel4.com and the League’s website.
Two candidate forums will be held May 4. Candidates for the Democratic Primary for Iowa House Districts 89 and 90 will be held at The Center in the Assembly Room, 28 S Linn St, Iowa City.
The District 89 forum will begin at 6 p.m. and will run approximately 45 minutes. District 89 candidates are Tony Currin and Elinor Levin. The District 90 forum will begin at 7 p.m. and will run 45 minutes. District 90 candidates are Andrew Dunn, Adam Zabner and Christy Wolfe.
The moderator for the District 89 seat will be Shannon Patrick, the moderator for the District 90 seat will be Kelcey Patrick-Ferree. Mary Jo Langhorne will be the timekeeper for both forums.
Two candidate forums will be held May 9. Candidate forums for the Democratic Primary for Johnson County Supervisor and State Senate District 45 will be held at The Center Assembly Room, 28 S Linn St.
The Johnson County Supervisor forum will begin at 6 p.m. and will run approximately 45 minutes. Two Board of Supervisor positions are open. Johnson County Supervisor candidates are V Fixmer-Oraiz, Jon Green and Seth Zimmermann.
The Iowa Senate District 45 forum will begin at 7 p.m. and will run approximately 45 minutes. Senate District 45 candidates are John Raley and Janice Weiner. The moderator for these forums will be Susan Craig. Kiran Patel will be the timekeeper.
A candidate forum for the Republican Primary for the Iowa House District 91 candidates will be held May 12. This forum will be held in the Clear Creek Amana Middle School cafeteria, 311 W Marengo Rd., in Tiffin. Candidates running for this seat are John George, Adam Grier, Devon Hodge, Skylar Limkemann, Matt McAreavy, and Brad Sherman. The forum will begin at 6 p.m. and will run approximately 90 minutes due to the number of candidates vying for this seat. The moderator and timekeeper will be announced at a later date.
