Senior Brent Showalter and sophomore Adam Kos led the Mid-Prairie boys to a victory Tuesday Dec. 7 against Iowa City Regina. The Hawks won 67-51.
Showalter scored 28 points including three 3-pointers and ripped down nine boards. Kos had 18 points and six rebounds.
Senior Jared Griffith dished out seven assists. Kos followed with five.
“We shot the ball extremely well against Regina to get the win. Our bench provided some outstanding minutes especially Jon Rediger, Brad Yotty, Courtney Driscoll and Jon Sebok”
Mid-Prairie’s defense limited Regina to only 32 percent.
“I was pleased with our ball movement. We had a total of 20 assists and only 13 turnovers,” said Coach Showalter.
This win improves the Hawks record to 1-1 in conference action.
A team victory for the Hawks
Mid-Prairie’s pressure defense helped them defeat Durant, Dec. 10, 74-48.
The Hawks set the tone of the game early with their defensive pressure.
“We had a good balanced attack from inside and outside, “ said coach Don Showalter.
Nine players scored for the Hawks.
“We had great ball movement, which gave us some easy baskets. Our guards, Jared Griffith, Tyrell Gingerich and Adam Kos really controlled the guard court both offensively and defensively,” said Coach Showalter.
Mid-Prairie played 15 players.
Senior Brent Showalter scored 18 points and collected three steals. Junior Jared Freel added 12 points and ripped down eight rebounds. Sophomore Adam Kos led the offense with six assists.
Sophomore Chad Showalter and John Sebok each grabbed seven boards.
