M-P FFA attends State Convention in Des Moines

Sixteen members of the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter traveled to Ames for the Iowa FFA Leadership Conference April 11-12. Those attending from Mid-Prairie were: Marissa Cline, Bridget Fisher, Zane Fisher, Zoe Fisher, Peighton Ford, Brittany Kinsinger, Rebekah Meader, Annie Morrison, Anna Nafziger, Blake Peck, Payton Peck, Gabi Robertson, Carmen Sieren, Kelyn Yoder, Braydon Younge and Brynn Younge.

Four members participated in leadership CDE’s.  Birttany Kinsinger and Rebecca Meader received 4th place gold for their Reporter’s Scrapbook.  Marissa Cline and Jacey Sisson received a silver for their Secretary’s Book.

Peighton Ford and Brynn Younge took the Greenhand Test about FFA knowledge.

Annie Morrison, Payton Peck, Kelyn Yoder and Braydon Younge competed in the Ag Sales skills CDE and received a silver rating by selling an aeroponics grow tower.

The Ag Biotech team of Bridget Fisher, Brittany Kinsinger, Anna Nafziger and Carmen Sieren received 6th place with a gold rating.

The Chapter Display showcasing the chapter’s community service project of putting up and taking down Memorial Day flags at local cemeteries was put together by Blake Peck and Gabi Robertson received a gold rating and was in the 10 placings for all chapter displays.

Zoe Fisher played French Horn in the Iowa FFA Band.  Marissa Cline served on the courtesy corp as a part of her District Officer duties. Zane Fisher, Peighton Ford, Rebekah Meader, and Brynn Younge also assisted with the courtesy corp during the convention.

Five members of the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter received their Iowa FFA Degrees.  This is the highest degree the state can award.  The members receiving their degrees were:  Marissa Cline, Zane Fisher, Brittany Kinsinger, Rebekah Meader and Annie Morrison.

Blake Peck and Rebekah Meader represented the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter by serving as the chapter’s delegates and voting for the new state officer team based on the candidate’s speeches.  Carmen Sieren served as a member of the state Program of Activities committee and helped plan for future activities. Bridget Fisher served on the Iowa FFA Officer nominating committee.  She spent three days prior to the conference assisting with the state officer selection process.  Bridget also assisted with the election process at the State FFA Convention.

  Bridget Fisher participated in the Teach Ag Signing Day.  Bridget will be continuing her education next year at Iowa State University majoring in Agricultural Education.

The Mid-Prairie FFA Chapter was recognized as one of the nine chapters receiving the Public Relations Award for promoting agricultural awareness.  The chapter was also recognized for kicking off their 75th Anniversary Year as an FFA Chapter.

Additional time was spent at the career show.  The sessions the Mid-Prairie members attended highlighted the achievements of Iowa FFA members throughout the past year and they had a chance to listen to inspirational speakers and presentations.
