The Mid-Prairie junior varsity girls basketball team defeated West Liberty at the buzzer, 30-29, Jan. 14.
Candace Richardson hit the game winning shot off an offensive rebound.
Steph Beeler had nine points, five steals and grabbed 10 boards.
Allie Rath had nine rebounds and six steals.
Kally Boehmer added eight boards.
The Hawks lost a close game, Jan. 11 against Mount Vernon, 40-38.
Mid-Prairie was down by 10 points with three minutes to go but made a comeback late in the fourth quarter.
Coach Jenny Hobbs said, “It was an exciting game. We couldn’t foul quick enough to put them on the line and get possession.”
Rath led the team with nine points and four steals.
Beeler added seven points.
Boehmer grabbed nine rebounds while Richardson added eight.
Amber Watkinson led the offense with five assists.
