M-P, Highland students perform senior dances

Posted

DeLanee Patterson danced in her last dance recital as a Senior on April 30, at The Washington Community Center Theater where The Attitudes In Dance Annual Recital was held. Patterson is graduating from Mid-Prairie High School. Her plans for next year are to attend Kirkwood and go into the medical field. She is the daughter of Nichole and Mike Patterson, from Keota. Patterson performed in Teen Contemporary to “Soldier” and Teen Hip Hop to “Strange Clouds”.

Also in these numbers was another graduating student, Zoey Robidoux, from Highland High School. Zoey is the daughter of Amber and James Williams of Riverside. She has danced at Attitudes In Dance since she was three years old. Her future plans are to attend Iowa Wesleyan to study Music and Art. Robidoux selected to do a tap routine to “On Top of The World” as her Senior Solo.

The theme of the Recital was “Imagine All The People, Living Life In Peace”. A Completion group comprised of Aubrey Hahn. Jillian Stransky, Layla Stransky, Henlee Petersen, and Paige Bombei rendered a winning Lyrical dance to “Imagine”.  This routine earned many awards this year.

Annually several students are honored for hard work and positive, joyful attitudes in class. The students who received a trophy and a dance scholarship were Shelby Gibbs, Paige Bombei, Brooklyn Thomann, Kennedy Chapman, Larissa Murphy, and three sisters, Saige, Kira and Siena Stanerson, with the Over All Reward going to Emalyn Jones.

Each year one dancer has her name added to the Studio Plaque in honor of the “Katie Birtcher Award”. Birtcher passed from cancer 10 years ago at the age of eight. One of her favorite things to do was attend dance classes. She would have graduated this year.  The Annual recipient is chosen for their love of dance and high character.  Annabel Stransky, daughter of Jeanette and Brandon Stransky was honored this year.

Attitudes in Dance has studios in Riverside and Columbus Junction, under the direction of Lyndsay Wilkinson Krotz.  Faculty is Jordan Miller-tumbling, Anne Boorse -dance, Josie Holke-Farnam-dance, MaKenna Cox -competition. They consider it a great privilege to have the best jobs in the world.
