The Mid-Prairie School Board voted to approve student fees for the 2022-23 school year, which include the reinstatement of book rental fees of $50 per student from four-year-old preschool through grade 12. It was noted that these fees bring in about $70,000 for the district, but they have not been in effect since the 2019-2020 school year.
The board also approved a 5-cent increase for student lunches and breakfasts. There has been no increase since the 2019-2020 school year due to the federal program that provided free lunches to all students for the past two years. The federal free lunch program is scheduled to end this year.
In other business, Superintendent Mark Schneider shared the draft contract between the district and Carl A. Nelson & Company for construction management of construction projects to be performed using the 2022 Revenue Bond Proceeds. Schneider also shared the progress of the contract with Shive-Hattery, architects for the construction projects. These contracts will be presented for approval at the next regular board meeting on Monday, May 9 at 12:45 p.m.
