Mary Miller, 87, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Kalona, died Aug. 21, 2024. Services were held Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Kalona, with Jr. Miller and Kenneth Yoder officiating. Burial was in South Gingerich Cemetery, rural Kalona.
Mary was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of David M and Fannie (Ropp) Miller. She worked as a waitress and cook at Kalonial Townhouse before moving to Florida in 1977. In Florida, she was a waitress at Dutch Valley Restaurant and also at Yoder’s Restaurant. The last years she did housework until she retired.
Mary accepted Christ and was baptized in her youth and was a faithful member of the Pinecraft Amish Church.
Mary is survived by one brother: William Miller of Spencer, Wisconsin; one sister: Ellen Miller of Sarasota; two sisters-in-law: Clara Miller of Cuba, Missouri and Mary Miller of Kokomo, Indiana; 31 nieces and nephews; 169 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Harley, Manass and Raymond; three sisters: Christina, Lydia and Esther; two nephews and one niece; five great-nephews and three great-nieces.
