Services were Monday, December 13, in Immanuel United Methodist Church, Des Moines, with the Reverends Dana Wimmer and Henry Bevel officiating. A private family internment will follow in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.

Mary Naomi Schneider was born February 10, 1926 in Fairmont, Minnesota, the daughter of Wesley and Huldah Schneider.

Mary Naomi Pfaltzgraff, 73, of Des Moines died in Wesley Acres Retirement Home Wednesday, December 8, 1999 of breast cancer.

Services were Monday, December 13, in Immanuel United Methodist Church, Des Moines, with the Reverends Dana Wimmer and Henry Bevel officiating. A private family internment will follow in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.

Mary Naomi Schneider was born February 10, 1926 in Fairmont, Minnesota, the daughter of Wesley and Huldah Schneider.

She graduated from Westmar College Magna Cum Laude in 1944 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in teaching. After college graduation, she was united in marriage to Reverend Richard Carl Pfaltzgraff.

She taught school for three years before dedicating her time to being a pastor’s wife, homemaker and mother of five.

After her children were grown, Mrs. Pfaltzgraff became concerned about nuclear arms build up and US policy in Central America. She was a peace activist and became actively involved with the organization, “Witness for Peace.”

Survivors include her husband, Reverend Richard C. Pfaltzgraff, Des Moines; three sons, Peter Pfaltzgraff of Chula Vista, California, John Pfaltzgraff and Jim Pfaltzgraff, both of Des Moines; two daughters, Tamie Logan of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania and Anne Marie Haydon of Madrid; two brothers, Reverend Jim Schneider of Duluth, Minnesota and Reverend Dave Schneider of New Brighton, Minnesota; and ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to UMCOR, Immanuel United Methodist Church, Wesley Acres Good Samaritan fund, Cedar Valley Hospice or Hospice of Central Iowa.
