Riverside Mayor Dawn McCoy, right, and daughter Jessica McCoy both received degrees during ceremonies at the University of Iowa May 15. McCoy received a BA in social work and her daughter, a BA in elementary education. Friends speculated that the two had this planned since Jessica’s birth. Hosts for the graduation party that followed were Dawn’s husband, Roy, and other children Kimberly and Sean, and Dawn’s sisters Shelley Anderton of Columbus Junction, Carole (and husband Steve) Rybzyk of Connecticut, and Jerrie Williams of Florida. Brother Bill Anderton of Massachusetts made a surprise visit.
