The case of Matthew James Meisheid, 40, charged with two counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations by Using or Displaying a Firearm, each a Class D Felony, previously set for trial March 21, 2023, was moved to May 5. The change request was granted Friday, March 3 in Washington County district court.
Meisheid’s attorney had filed a written arraignment August 8, 2022, entering a not quilty plea on both counts. Trial was then set for November 15, later moved to December 6.
Charges are the result of county deputies responding to a call July 9 about Meisheid shooting off fireworks near his 3rd Street home in Kalona.
