Mid-Prairie dance team takes fourth

The Mid-Prairie dance team earned Division 1 ratings for a pair of performances in the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association competition at Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee hall on December 2.

Both the Jazz and Pom routines received a Division 1 rating and placed fourth.

“The girls were super excited to take home two trophies,” said Mid-Prairie coach Gretchen Steffen.

The Golden Hawks also had four dancers in the Class V solo competition. Emma Hendricks finished 12th out of 63 competitors. Lilou Beachy was 20th, Grace Allred 26th, and Kelsi Harr finished 29th.

Each member of the dance team competed in at least one group routine at the ISDTA competition. The nine-member dance team practices year-round.

“We usually practice twice a week to perfect our dances,” Steffen said. “It was so fun to see their hard work rewarded.”
